Despite the constancy of composition scheme and style, the suttas are not uniform. It can be prose, and mixed - in verse and prose, the very different capacity, the narrative frame can be reduced to a few of these phrases, or deployed in a detailed story, and so on. "Sutta on Kasibharadvadzhe" belongs to the small suttas mixed form.
Jataka.
The genre has developed in line with Buddhist sermons, facing the laity. It is based on a parable, is made as instructive story about the events that occurred with the Buddha in one of his previous births. The vast majority of Jataka - a cautionary narrative folklore (fairy tales, fables, legends). In a Jataka legends also are processed, resulting in a Buddhist environment, and even treated in the Buddhist spirit of the epic songs (including those in the cycles of "Mahabharata" and "Ramayana").
Jataka story is constructed as the Buddha, who achieved enlightenment, has found memories of past births. Therefore, "the story of the past" (actually Jataka) is framed by "a story about this", which consists of two parts: Introduction, describes the events that led the Buddha to recall the past, and conclusions in which the Buddha identifies the heroes of history with the participants of this event. Each Jataka sure there is a verse insert (a replica of the character, sometimes the dialogue). It is precisely these poetic fragments were included in the canon when it was recorded in I. BC. Oe. As for the stories, they have long continued to be passed down orally and in writing have been detected only in V. Mr. Oe. Ceylon commentators' type of Ithaca ".
Although officially considered as jatakas past lives of Buddha, it does not prevent them from being primarily entertaining stories, especially since most of them Buddhist treatment was limited to a simple binding to the figure of the Teacher.
