| Vote Mumbai is an independent platform for citizens and NGOs to bring changes to the city governance. The campaign is based on the belief that the only alternative to flawed democracy is improved democracy. The campaign adopts a pro-political, non-partisan approach to achieve its goal.

| 2. What changes are being sought through Vote Mumbai? |
| The campaign seeks to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Mumbai by asking for systemic changes and urban governance reforms. Vote Mumbai is rooting for creating a Mumbai Metropolitan Planning committee, com-prehensive urban reforms for greater effectiveness of local government, institutional accountability and legitimate citizen participation. |
| 3. How is Vote Mumbai different from other similar campaigns/NGO movements? |
| Vote Mumbai is highly professional and focused in its approach. All the suggestions are backed by intensive research and authentic facts and data. The idea is to plan a campaign based on accurate information and to make sure that it is implemented. All the activities are planned with time-bound goals. Also, the process is deliberative and consultative. Anyone is invited to give his/her ideas and opinions about the campaign or the model which evolves as new ideas come in. The implementation involves a combination of advocacy and grass-root work. |
| 4. How will Vote Mumbai benefit me as a citizen? |
| Vote Mumbai will change the equation of power, making citizens the sovereigns of the city. A representative for every 1700 people instead of 66000 at present will ensure a more efficient and democratic system. We will have more influence over the governance of Mumbai and have greater power over day-to-day problems of our locality. Rather than just participating in governance once every five years, you will now have the opportunity to take part in Area Sabha meetings and look into issues on an everyday basis. |
| 5. How will the changes suggested under Vote Mumbai help curb corruption? |

Governance is at its best when closest possible to the people. Mandatory disclosure norms, independent outside auditors, ombudsmen, right to recall, citizen charters with penalties, fund based accounting systems, e-governance and other mechanisms are some of the measures suggested to bring accountability and transparency in the system. |
| 6. How can I participate in the campaign? |
Vote Mumbai is offering a better solution for you and I. You can help by
- Participating in the campaign as a volunteer
- Partnering your organization in the campaign
- Writing/Carrying articles in local newsletters and newspapers
- Organizing meetings for at least 50 people to spread the campaign message
- Participating in various periodic activities planned for the campaign
- Collecting signature books and get lakhs of signatures
- Calling our street play groups for your area
- Contributing financially and through sponsorships

| 7. How are the various activities being funded? |
| Vote Mumbai has a non-profit agenda whose funds are only in the form of sponsorships. Vote Mumbai accepts donations but not cash contributions, government contributions or contributions from foreigners except for people of Indian origin. There is no minimum amount for supporting the Vote Mumbai campaign. If you wish to make a contribution, the funds will be directed to FDR (the Foundation for Democratic Reforms). |
