DO U HAVE A QUESTION?

19th June, 2006
Dear Madam/Sir,
VOTE MUMBAI Campaign is being organized by LOK SATTA MOVEMENT in partnership with more than 25 civil society organizations and more than 100 individual supporters. A list of these civil society organisations is available on the website. More civil society organizations & individuals are joining & hence list is ever increasing.
This campaign is research based & proposing solutions as you will note from the website.
For achieving the proposed solution through amendments to four laws viz: BMC Act, MRTP Act, MMRDA Act and MPC Act in the winter session of Maharashtra Assembly in November 2006, we are trying to reach out to all including citizens of Mumbai to seek their buy in to the proposed concepts.
To seek buy in from all, primarily we are carrying out following activities:
1- Advocacy Campaign
2- Media Campaign
3- Signature Campaign
4- SMS Campaign
5- E-mailing & Web Campaign
6- Street Play Campaign
7- Specific event Campaign on few selected days like 26th July (Last year disaster), 9th August (Quit India), 15th August (Independence Day) and 2nd Oct (Gandhi Jayanti)
The campaign is an endeavor to promote participatory democracy by empowering citizens and encouraging them to participate in the governance process.
The tragic events of the past year have shattered the faith that Mumbaikars had placed in the city's governance. We believe that 'Vote Mumbai' campaign will bring together thousands of like-minded people who believe that Mumbai also needs a central authority that is directly accountable to its citizens."
The Campaign's progress so far is as under:
1. The Campaign will be launched on Wednesday, 28th June at 2:30 PM at Mumbai Marathi Patrkar Sangh hall at Azad Maidan.
2. All partners & supporters will be present on this occasion. Media is invited. A brief PPT presentation will be given. Question & Answer session with media will be held. One to One interviews between media & few key people are being planed.VOTE MUMBAI song will be presented.
